here and there II
DESCRIPTION
Linen and thread on cotton paper | 2021
Caflisch’s description of the work is looking through a threshold from here to there, creating a distinction between the two. He asks the viewer to think of it as looking at the horizon creating a separation between land, sea, and sky. The work began its origin in California, was made in London, and then ended back in California so it was literally created here and there.

“...still constantly remind myself of H.D. Thoreau’s quote “rather than love, than money, than fame; give me truth.” I think this is a crucial mentality to have as an artist, and any other profession; that success, by any definition, will be found in making honest work.”
