Spirits in Stereo
Clay, Pigment, Acrylic, Charcoal, and Oil on Canvas
Ali Beletic’s Neon Primitivism series is a vivid extension of her commitment to primitivist ideology—and to “bringing the party and the fun.” In this new body of work, the canvas becomes a site for channeling sensuality, emotion, and ancestral energy, in a modern return to Abstract Expressionism. Beletic combines the ultra-matte texture of her signature clay-based paints with ancient pigments—botanical dyes, crushed semi-precious stones, burned wood—layered alongside postmodern materials like spray paint and oil.
Evoking cave paintings, ceremonial body art, the New York School, pop, and the weathered intimacy of artifacts, the work draws a line from Charles Olson’s “Archaic Postmodern” to a contemporary aesthetic that celebrates simultaneity—where the archaic and the modern exist side by side, alive with rhythm and intensity.

“I feel like all of my work not only has this grounding in earth and humanity, but also in a sense of party, celebration, and vibrancy.”

About the Artist
Ali Beletic
Ali Beletic’s large original abstract paintings, recently highlighted in Vogue and Architectural Digest (featured in Eva Chen’s home), celebrate the raw emotion of joy, movement, and connection. Her gestural paintings use bold, dynamic strokes and layered textures to explore the intricate relationship between movement and abstract expressionism. These large-scale works resonate with the energy of rock 'n' roll, ancient traditions, and sensory experiences, creating pieces that feel alive and transport viewers into a realm of instinctive expression and creativity. Each painting is a celebration of the human spirit, offering a unique focal point for art collectors and interior designers alike.
In addition to her paintings, Beletic’s practice includes hand-sewn textile flags that delve further into the relationship between gesture and abstraction. These meticulously crafted works combine vivid designs with the tactile intimacy of fabric, emphasizing the physicality of creating and the expressive potential of material. By blending precise craftsmanship with the spontaneity of abstract forms, Beletic’s textiles bring a deeply personal and multi-sensory dimension to her artistic repertoire. Her innovative approach to both painting and textiles transforms raw emotion into striking, tangible forms that elevate any space. Perfect for those seeking bold, original artwork, Beletic’s creations reflect a deep connection to human creativity and celebration.
