Vase Noir 1
DESCRIPTION
Archival ink on museum-quality cotton rag paper | 2022
In this new series of photographs, Brun collaborated with set designer Juliette Zakowetz to create several compositions of black shapes using objects from everyday life. At once meditative, abstract, and minimalist, “Vase Noir” is a result of Brun’s meticulous process both in the darkroom and digitally. Seemingly forced together on a table, the objects in each photograph may differ in terms of shape or material, but have one purpose: to absorb light with their blackness — attempting to speak the language of a black hole.
