DESCRIPTION
Found fabric and thread | 2021
Fanny Allié created this series of site-specific textiles during her residency at MacArthur Place in Sonoma, CA. To convey the spirit of the location, she incorporated elements of both the resort and its surrounding city. Inspired by the hotel staff, Allié translated elements of their body language and gestures into her sewn compositions. She sourced donated and recycled textiles from second-hand stores across Sonoma—each layer of repurposed fabric integrates a unique narrative from the past. The works further Allié’s continued explorations of home, ephemerality, and the disappearance of the body.

“Through my work, I reflect on human connections and feelings related to memory, passage, loss, the discarded, ephemerality and the delicate and precarious narrative that links us to each other”
