This new body of work by Daniel Fletcher presents a series of topographic landscape studies, using a stripped back but tightly considered language.
The use of limited tools and monochromatic materials forces careful contemplation of each mark, producing compositions that are precisely balanced and curated, yet underpinned by the carefree looseness and abstraction that is characteristic of Daniel’s practice.
Working directly on location generates a sense of immediacy within these works, producing forms and textures that speak directly to the visual language of his direct environment. These paintings serve as a critical toolkit within Daniels wider practice, feeding into his larger, brightly coloured canvas works.
