Kassandra Reich's multidisciplinary practice explores the space between representation and abstraction, creating richly layered paintings that are rooted in memory, place, and perception. Working with oil paint, chalk, and cold wax on wood panel, she employs an intuitive process of building and obscuring the surface through gestural mark-making, textured layers, and an earthy palette. Drawing inspiration from the people, landscapes, and experiences that have shaped her life, Reich distills familiar subjects into evocative fragments that invite contemplation rather than description.

Inspired by the expressive energy of underpaintings, Reich embraces the tension between recognition and ambiguity, allowing viewers to complete each composition through their own memories and associations. Her collection Borrowed Lines reflects on nearly a decade spent living in Beijing, Hong Kong, London, and Melbourne, translating these experiences into atmospheric works that explore the shifting nature of memory. Through layered surfaces and restrained forms, Reich creates paintings that linger between the remembered and the imagined, offering quiet meditations on time, place, and belonging.
