Lives & Works in Toronto, Canada
Kass Reich is a Toronto-based artist whose practice was shaped by nearly a decade spent living and working abroad, in Beijing, Hong Kong, London, and Melbourne, before her return to Canada. Working in oil, pastel, and cold wax, Reich draws on both her travels through her native Canada and the years she spent overseas, an itinerancy that remains the animating force in her work. Her gestures are deliberate, attentive to the particular atmosphere of a place as much as to its visual signals, each mark at once a record and an impression, registering not only how a landscape looks but how it feels to have been there.
