Bodies And Gardens VII
Oil and charcoal on canvas
Petra Schott’s latest body of work explores her enduring connection to nature, the rhythms of the changing seasons, and the ways dreams and lived experiences are transformed through memory. Drawing from impressions of the natural world alongside recollections from childhood, Schott creates paintings that move fluidly between what has been experienced, remembered, and imagined. Past and present intertwine, allowing familiar places and sensations to reemerge through the shifting lens of time.
In Bodies and Gardens, Schott returns specifically to the garden of her childhood — a place that, through a child’s eyes, felt vast and seemingly boundless. Expansive views existed alongside mysterious corners and hidden spaces, creating an environment rich with possibility and discovery. The garden becomes both a physical and psychological landscape: a space where nature, the body, dreams, and imagination converge, and where early experiences continue to take on new forms.

JACEY DUPRIE ON PETRA SCHOTT
“The moment I saw Deep Into the Gardens, I knew it was a piece I wanted in my home. I was captivated by its themes of personal growth, vulnerability, and dynamic movement. The colors create a visceral connection to the natural world, grounding me while also inviting introspection and imagination.”
