Catalina Ruiz's Anthurium series explores the sculptural beauty of botanical forms, using plants as a point of departure to investigate volume, rhythm, and the interplay between organic shapes and constructed space. Rather than functioning as botanical studies, the paintings transform familiar forms into contemplative compositions that exist between observation and imagination.

Influenced by the visual language of Japanese ukiyo-e prints, Ruiz employs restrained color palettes, dynamic compositions, and expressive negative space to create a delicate balance between simplicity and intricate pattern. Large, quiet passages coexist with richly detailed surfaces, while color reinforces the dialogue between softness and structure. The resulting works invite viewers into a slower, more meditative way of looking, where botanical forms become timeless studies in balance, presence, and abstraction.
