Aerial of Lara
DESCRIPTION
35mm film, developed and printed on Ilford Multigrade photo paper | 2022
In what Lane considers to be the most mysterious collection he’s done with Tappan, abstracted people, vague surroundings, and secret places emerge from photographs captured across the country. Using different formats such as 35 mm, 120 and digital, Lane purposefully selects photographs—of a stream in Connecticut, perhaps, or of his own living room floor in LA—where it is impossible to identify anyone or anything specific. In these photographs, the expression comes from the elements and not the face—the result is a dreamy trip to new places filled with new people…all familiar, yet intriguing.
