Arran Rahimian’s practice blends intuitive mark-making with intentional form, drawing deeply from the textures and transformations found in nature. His sources of inspiration range from weathered book covers and shifting light to the imprints left by people walking across canvases laid on the ground like carpets. Each work captures a fleeting convergence of movement and stillness, becoming a visual record of time’s subtle traces. Rahimian also revisits primitive gestural sketches, translating their raw colors and marks into expansive, large-scale compositions.

Allowing each painting to evolve organically, Rahimian cultivates a balance between control and surrender. His surfaces—whether linen or canvas—remain active participants in the work, contributing texture, rhythm, and presence. The resulting pieces carry a serene yet dynamic energy, inviting viewers into a space where spontaneity, materiality, and the passage of time intersect.
