DESCRIPTION
Gouache, acrylic, and mirror vinyl on paper woodboard and exposed stretchers| 2021
This triptych is a piece I made while at the Pada residency in Portugal, and may be the most emblematic of the series itself. This was one of the pieces I had envisioned making, even before I got there. I am especially pleased by its dynamism and use of materials, particularly the solution of the double stretcher bar and paperboard structure.

“...still constantly remind myself of H.D. Thoreau’s quote “rather than love, than money, than fame; give me truth.” I think this is a crucial mentality to have as an artist, and any other profession; that success, by any definition, will be found in making honest work.”

“...WE WERE REALLY LOOKING FOR PIECES THAT SPOKE TO US AND MADE US PAUSE FOR A MOMENT TO ABSORB, APPRECIATE, AND REFLECT. CAFLISCH'S ART ABSOLUTELY HAD THAT EFFECT ON US.”
