Dreams in Stillness II
Acrylic and oil pastel on canvas
In this series of eight paintings, artist Aliya Abs captures quiet moments of calm and retreat—figures resting, reading, reflecting, or walking by the sea. Each work offers a glimpse into the serenity found in stillness, inviting viewers to pause amid the rhythm of daily life. Bathed in soft, autumnal light, the paintings evoke a sense of warmth and intimacy, reflecting the gentle transition of seasons and the quiet beauty of introspection.
Beneath their tranquil surfaces lies a subtle thread of contemplation and melancholy. Abs infuses each scene with emotional depth, transforming simple moments into poetic meditations on solitude and self-awareness. Through this series, she extends an invitation to slow down, find comfort in quiet reflection, and reconnect with one’s own inner world.

About the Artist
Aliya Abs
Aliya Abs is a contemporary artist whose practice is defined by a refined, linear approach that emerged gradually after becoming a mother. This period marked a turning point in her work, leading her toward a reduced visual language grounded in the belief that life is often best understood through simplicity. Her drawings and paintings convey an intimate emotional register, merging tenderness and quiet melancholy through figures, portraits, and still lifes rendered with clarity and restraint.
Born in Kharkiv, Ukraine, Abs has been based in Munich, Germany, since 2010. Raised in a creative family, she demonstrated artistic promise from an early age and went on to earn both a BA and an MA from the National Academy of Arts in Lviv, Ukraine. While her career has encompassed a wide range of styles and techniques, her current practice centers on true-to-life imagery distilled into an almost naïve, pared-back expression. Her work was recently featured in Elle Decor France.
