Cave Vessel: Pumice
Clay, Slip, Glaze, Various Flux, Multiple Firing
Vince Palacios's recent work brings humor to the fore as a driving force in his practice. Once a quiet undercurrent in his ceramics, it now takes center stage. Animated forms and richly textured surfaces evoke sculptures caught mid-motion, figures that seem poised to wander off the moment the viewer looks away. Palacios leans into the absurdity of color and material, letting their interplay sharpen the expressive reach of each piece. Beneath this playful energy run his enduring preoccupations: geological transformation, the passage of time, and the elemental presence of the earth.
