Acrylic paint on ceramic

In her new series, From One Form Forwards, Lisa Dengler explores themes of metamorphosis and rebirth, finishing the works eight months after setting them aside—knowing they were incomplete, but not ready to finish them yet. That pause breathed new life into the works, almost as though the work needed to undergo the same process of rebirth as the artist did herself. By adding and peeling away layers from the work she started months prior, Dengler managed to create entirely new works almost unrecognizable from how they began

“Through the process of creating art, I feel peace and connection to the world. Simply put, for me, creation is meditation. The mind goes blank and the body takes over.”
