David Samuel Ko | Collector Profile
Born and raised in California, David Samuel Ko has always had an eye for design. At a young age, he was already decorating homes, event planning, practicing photography, and styling shoots. He earned his degree in Public Relations & Advertising from Chapman University and moved to Los Angeles upon graduation. He began working in Fashion PR, and simultaneously, he was a design assistant at an interior design firm where he learned the ins and outs of the industry. He has worked alongside very talented designers where he gained experience and exposure to the design world.
David had a vision of creating a firm that wasn’t focused on just fashion, or just interiors. He wanted to somehow tie both of his passions together, and with that, Maison Ko was born.
Maison Ko is a full service interior design firm based in Los Angeles, CA, with a focus on residential and commercial projects across a spectrum of project scope, scale, and budgets. Led by David Samuel Ko, a multidisciplinary creative, the firm aims to blur the lines between interiors and fashion, reflecting David's sharp sense of style and honest yet approachable take on design. We believe that design is a personal experience and our goal is for our clients to feel proud of their space, and more importantly, to have fun with the design process.
“Tappan has been my go-to for art sourcing ever since their conception. I love the wide range of work that they offer and artists they represent, as there is something for everyone. The level of curation is top tier and even the most art-handicapped person is bound to find pieces they resonate with.”
“I have been a huge fan of Luke’s work for a very long time now and have sourced his boards for many of my projects. Not only is he a friend of mine, but I am lucky to have one of his “Trophies” in my own home. I love this aluminum sculpture series and like to consider myself lucky, so this is a must have piece for me.”On Luke Chiswell's Lady Luck
“As a fellow member of the AAPI community, I see a lot of my heritage and background in AOTH’s work. The fish in the pond reminds me of my grandparents and their homes I practically grew up in. Acrylic on canvas always turns out so beautifully so I am extremely drawn to this piece. It brings a sense of peace to me which is generally how I like my own spaces to feel.”On AOTH's WATER, WOOD, GROWTH
“Gia’s work is actually what made me aware of Tappan since the start, and what drew me to them in the first place. So her pieces are very reminiscent of me and my early days as a designer in LA. I think it is only fitting that this piece is of the iconic Chateau where I have spent countless nights and had many drinks with friends that I have made here. This feels like a sentimental piece that would have a permanent place in my home.”On Gia Coppola's Chateau Marmont
“I love this work, especially as the feminine contrast. I love the color pink, especially in design. It’s such an energetic and happy color and, paired with the subject of this piece, it reminds me of a perfect summer day — a feeling I am constantly chasing.”On Hannah Carrick's Incense
