DESCRIPTION
Charcoal on paper | 2021
In this ongoing series of charcoal drawings, Cowboy Sketches, McCormick delves into his childhood obsession with cowboys and explores the idealized representation of these cultural icons within the American psyche. These gestural drawings, mostly devoid of context or landscapes, focus on the symbol of the cowboy character as both a myth and mentality, one that exists and persists beyond the range.
