In Tagada Hoffbeck's series “Safe Space”, she paints women holding teacups in order to emphasize the daily action and ritual of sharing tea as a space created for comfort. In these moments of painting her subjects she spoke in depth to the women about social and ecological subjects they were passionate about. These original works on paper mark an evolution in Tagada Hoffbeck’s practice as she continues the series on canvas which are frequently accompanied by audio recordings.
