My Fruit Bowl is Always Full
Archival ink on museum-quality cotton rag paper
In her new prints, Monika Morito combines interior and exterior spaces to create dreamlike visual worlds. The boundaries between inside and outside become blurred, memories intertwine with fragments of landscape, colour spaces and atmospheres.
The works bear a personal signature: raised in the Philippines and now living in Germany, Morito processes her childhood core memories – in abstract form. The result is multi-layered images that alternate between the familiar and the unfamiliar, closeness and distance, dream and reality.
Using a mix of bright and earthy tones, Morito creates compositions that are both lively and contemplative. The series invites viewers to enter an in-between space, to let go and linger in a place where boundaries dissolve and memories take on a new form in the present.
