Untitled
Oil on linen
Nathan Dilworth’s paintings explore disruption and disorientation through the layering and collision of multiple images and gestures. By combining visual elements that interact, obscure, and interrupt one another, Dilworth renders his original subjects partially or entirely illegible, reflecting both the speed and constant flux of contemporary life and the more personal experience of inhabiting multiple realities at once. While fragments of recognizable imagery remain, their disruption resists a singular reading, creating space for the fundamental qualities of painting — color, form, gesture, and materiality — to come forward. Through this tension between recognition and abstraction, Dilworth examines the shifting relationship between perception, memory, and lived experience.
