The Pink Villa
Oil Pastel on Birchboard
Phoebe Stone’s recent series reflects a sensuous attention to the quiet rituals of daily life, where color, taste, and atmosphere converge in moments of shared experience. Through intimate still lifes and contemplative compositions, Stone captures fragments of summer—lemons and flowers arranged on a table, gardenias placed carefully in a vase, terracotta and blue walls warmed by sunlight. References to food, wine, and coastal air evoke a Mediterranean sensibility, where citrus, olives, oysters, and freshly prepared fish become part of a larger meditation on pleasure, hospitality, and the subtle poetry of the everyday.
Throughout the series, objects are treated not simply as subjects but as carriers of mood and memory. Softly luminous palettes and carefully balanced arrangements recall art historical influences while remaining grounded in contemporary life—quiet gatherings, open windows, music in the background, and the slow passing of afternoon hours. With compositions that feel both composed and spontaneous, Stone’s paintings invite the viewer to linger within these suspended moments, where color, light, and material presence transform ordinary scenes into reflections on beauty, community, and the sensory richness of living.
