Morning Haze
Oil on canvas
In this body of work, Ashley Ozmint explores the tones, textures, and compositions of wild and rural landscapes as a quiet reprieve from technology, precision, and the pace of contemporary life. Drawing influence from both Impressionist and Tonalist traditions, Ozmint paints intuitively with loose brushwork and a restrained earthy palette, focusing less on realistic depiction and more on conveying the emotional atmosphere of the land. Through a meditative process of simplification, intricate natural forms are distilled into gestures of color, line, and texture, inviting viewers to slow down and recognize the understated beauty within ordinary landscapes.
