He Reads, She Loves
Acrylic on canvas
Aliya Abs' The Quiet Beauty of Summer is a celebration of the gentle abundance and quiet poetry found in the season's fleeting moments. Through luminous landscapes, blooming florals, and contemplative figures, her paintings invite viewers to slow down and reconnect with the restorative beauty of the natural world. Each composition captures a sense of warmth, stillness, and light, revealing the extraordinary within everyday moments.
The collection also revisits recurring motifs central to Abs' practice, including her intimate piano scenes and portraits from the Au Revoir series, where women are often depicted from behind in moments of quiet reflection. Together, these works explore the harmony between people and nature, offering contemplative spaces that encourage presence, nostalgia, and an appreciation for the simple beauty that surrounds us.

About the Artist
Aliya Abs
Aliya Abs is a contemporary artist whose practice is defined by a refined, linear approach that emerged gradually after becoming a mother. This period marked a turning point in her work, leading her toward a reduced visual language grounded in the belief that life is often best understood through simplicity. Her drawings and paintings convey an intimate emotional register, merging tenderness and quiet melancholy through figures, portraits, and still lifes rendered with clarity and restraint.
Born in Kharkiv, Ukraine, Abs has been based in Munich, Germany, since 2010. Raised in a creative family, she demonstrated artistic promise from an early age and went on to earn both a BA and an MA from the National Academy of Arts in Lviv, Ukraine. While her career has encompassed a wide range of styles and techniques, her current practice centers on true-to-life imagery distilled into an almost naïve, pared-back expression. Her work was recently featured in Elle Decor France.
