At the Edge of Recognition
Pigment on silk
Loralee Jade's latest body of work explores the subtle space between atmosphere and presence, using dye on silk to create compositions that exist between memory, dream, and lived experience. Allowing color to move freely across the surface, her process embraces chance and transformation as forms gather, dissolve, and re-emerge, creating luminous landscapes that feel both deeply familiar and quietly enigmatic.
Recurring motifs of thresholds, shelters, openings, and radiant centers appear throughout the series, evoking emotional states rather than defined places or figures. Hovering between what is seen and what is sensed, the works invite contemplation of protection, longing, tenderness, and recognition beyond language. Together, these paintings create immersive environments where meaning remains fluid, encouraging viewers to linger within the quiet mystery of emergence and imagination.
