Meredith Peck | Collector Profile
Meredith Peck is a San Francisco–based creative director, fashion influencer, and content creator. Known for her style-forward account, Spark and Pepper, Peck lives in an Edwardian home in the heart of the city with her husband, Andy, daughter Madi, and their dog Lucy. Drawn to the history and character of the house—from its creaky floors to its ornate details—Peck embraces the quiet stories held within its walls.
Much like her approach to fashion, her home reflects a sensibility rooted in thoughtful layering, unexpected details, and an evolving sense of style. Eclectic and lived-in, it is a space where creativity thrives and where each piece, whether old or new, contributes to the unfolding story of her family.

"I love to collect portraits of strangers and imagine what their lives were like. I love art that is a little quirky, but also classic and storied."

Q&A:
What inspires you to collect the work of emerging artists?
The way I collect art is very similar to how I get dressed. I’m drawn to artists and brands that aren’t widely known just yet. Just as I love wearing pieces that feel unexpected and catch the eye, I look for art that feels unique and thoughtfully chosen. Discovering new talent, whether in art or fashion, and sharing their work with my audience is something I truly enjoy using my platform for.
What is your earliest memory of art, and what led you to start collecting it? How has the sentimentality of your collection evolved over time?
My earliest memory of seeing a great piece was seeing Degas’ Little Dancer of Fourteen Years. I felt deeply personally connected to it as I adored ballet as a little girl. For me, art was a means of communication, a universal language, an escape. I am very drawn to pieces I feel a deep connection to and always have been.
I love to collect portraits of strangers and I have been doing so for a long time. It is so fun to imagine the stories of these people and wonder what their lives were like. I recently started collecting modern, original works. I love collecting art because it makes my house feel like a home, I love putting pieces on my walls that I feel deeply connected to, it is almost like being surrounded by friends and family – something about it is so warm and comforting.
Is there a particular type of art you collect?
I love to collect portraits of strangers and imagine what their lives were like. I love art that is a little quirky, but also classic and storied.
Why would you recommend Tappan to someone looking for art?
Tappan is such a great place to discover artists. I love it because there is such a wide breadth of work and I don’t have to search all over the world to find pieces that resonate with me. It’s all there and beautifully curated.

Where and when do you feel the most creative?
I feel most creative when I’m getting dressed. Fashion has always been my favorite outlet for self-expression, it’s how I channel my creativity into something tangible. Now that it’s also part of my career, it feels even more rewarding. I’ve always been drawn to pieces that feel unexpected, playful, and fresh, and clothing is my favorite way to bring that spirit to life.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
Fashion, interesting people, travel, my lived experiences, and food are all major sources of inspiration. I am very in tune with what I like and love sharing it with my community. They inspire me each and every day as well.
For new collectors, do you have any advice you wish to impart? Do you have a collecting ethos or philosophy that you want to share?
How I collect art is very similar to how I get dresses. I don’t wear things because everyone has it, quite the opposite actually. Having a giant logo across your chest isn’t style. Neither is the “it” bag. For collecting art, I have taken the same approach. Look around your home and see how you live, find art that makes you feel how you want to live. I look for things that make me feel at home, but pieces that are eclectic and feel thoughtfully collected. I find things that reflect the moment I am in in my life. I love finding what I love but what I can afford. Whether it be the tiny print by the artist you adore, or the sidewalk sale artist, or the huge piece you have been saving for for years – it is all a part of the journey and should be celebrated and adored.
