STATEMENT
Mike McMullen is a Los Angeles-based artist working across printmaking, drawing, and found imagery. His process is hands-on and intuitive, guided more by instinct than plan. Often beginning with old photographs, personal references, or simple marks, McMullen lets the work unfold through repetition and time. He explores memory, transition, and the tension between control and chance, drawing from moments of grief and joy, sometimes both at once. Whether pulling prints or drawing from memory, his work reflects a desire to slow down, notice what’s right in front of him, and hold onto something before it slips away.
“Making is play. A desire to be present and truly enjoy the small moments of magic that can unfold. A place that only YOU occupy, however brief. Everything else is a blur.” - Mike McMullen
