Tappan is pleased to present WILDTYPE, a group exhibition. Tappan's first exhibition in Dallas, Texas features artists whose practices engage intuition, material experimentation, and the generative potential of the unexpected. Borrowed from biology, the term wildtype refers to the naturally occurring form of a species—the baseline from which variation, mutation, and adaptation emerge. The works on view move fluidly across painting, sculpture, and mixed media, revealing practices that evolve through responsiveness, chance, and the inherent vitality of the studio.
