Across “BOUNDARY,” the new series from artist Chie Fujii, viewers are encouraged to see beyond the structural and decorative elements and consider their meaning. Through a thoughtful and thorough process, Fujii creates surfaces that mimic bone or lace, or ancient vessels hearkening from the Japanese Jomon era. The series conveys her interest in exploring both the inner and outer space of her creations, and the distinctions between things.

About the Artist
Chie Fujii
Chie Fujii is a Japanese artist and ceramics maker currently based in Los Angeles. Fujii majored and mastered sculpture and fine art at the Tokyo University of the Arts. Fujii has an extensive background in clay art, using a traditional, ancient hand-build technique that explores the passage of time from antiquity to the present.
