New additions to Teschner’s vibrant series on the confrontation between natural phenomenon and architecture. Influenced by the way temperature and weather impact built objects, their boundaries, and surrounding space, the sculptures are constructed of individually painted planes stitched together in anomalous arrangements. Their scale fluctuates from board to building, drawing on both the language of wood joinery and the extensive palette of a lush tropical landscape.
“[Weather] is an undeniably important consideration for living in a place, and so influential on the way we move, but its qualities are not distinct. Like time. There are aspects that are measurable, and there are others that will escape definition.
“Wind Breaks” is a graph of actions. It is a race along the surface of the earth, encountering obstacles. It is that which moves, seen only by the objects moved. It is the sky above, the blue house of heat and cool running upstairs, downstairs.”
