Acrylic and graphite on paper | 2019
While spending a week alone in November 2019 at an 18th century cottage on the east coast of Scotland, Caflisch drew inspiration from this secluded environment, focusing his attention on architectural features and objects in the home for the works in the series, Dunglass cottage. This work on paper depicts the yellow glow from the flattened and abstracted form of the cottage’s fireplace, a space Caflisch spent hours drawing as the cottage was without electricity.
