DESCRIPTION
Acrylic and India Ink on Toned, Deckled Paper | 2021
In his signature volumetric and figurative style, Bryce Wymer creates a series of moments that range from anxiety-tinged to mundane. His use of overlapping elements reflects an interest in the many layers of the human condition. Overall the works employ two distinct techniques, the first of which is similar to reductive sculpting. Wymer lays down broad planes of color, then “carves out” figures with a thick line. His second approach is more additive, using a thin stroke to delicately outline larger forms.

Q. Where do you obtain inspiration?
A. I find inspiration in the people around me and the stories that I surround myself with. I find inspiration in trying to capture the heart and soul of a narrative frozen in time.
