DESCRIPTION
Clay, pigment, acrylic and oil on canvas | 2021
Beletic’s Neon Primitivism series is a natural extension of the artist’s commitment to primitivist ideology and rock and roll. Inspired by ancient cultures and civilizations, these paintings mix the ultra mattes and earthly clays of Mexican folk art with vibrant charcoals, botanical dyes and untraditional pigments, juxtaposing glowing neons with primal gesture and celebrating the marriage of archaic and contemporary tradition, sensuality and artistic expression.
In her newest additions to this series we see her implement more abstraction into these large scale paintings that act as statement pieces.
