DESCRIPTION
Archival ink on museum-quality cotton rag paper | 2021
Bella McGoldrick’s photorealistic still lifes capture artifacts of the everyday. She meticulously draws pre-adored, used, and discarded objects, instilling them with a sense of curiosity and sentimentality. In “The Sometimes Kitchen Essentials” series, McGoldrick illustrates a collection of pantry items with captivating packaging: baking soda from Russia, olive oil from London, and sardines from Portugal.
Musing on “Spill,” she writes: “In London, my local French corner deli held products I’d rather look at than cook with. I’ve always wanted to incorporate oil into my drawings for its thick, reflective nature.”
