Slide, No. 1
22x30" | charcoal on paper | 2005
The slide series allows me to actively participate in the process of drawing. There are no constraints, no need to mask off with tape, or make precise measurements. I make a mark and use a long physical movement to smudge the mark along an axis.
The initial mark(s) hint at an underlying grid of information. Pseudo scientific information masquerading as beauty; of vice versa.
The work is as much about the act of drawing as anything.
