Beletic’s Neon Primitivism series is a natural extension of the artist’s commitment to primitivist ideology and rock and roll. Inspired by ancient cultures and civilizations, these paintings mix the ultra mattes and earthly clays of Mexican folk art with vibrant charcoals, botanical dyes and untraditional pigments, juxtaposing glowing neons with primal gesture and celebrating the marriage of archaic and contemporary tradition, sensuality and artistic expression.
“Rain” is a conceptual, process-based work that translates sensuality into form. Beletic created the piece outside during a rainstorm, adding layers of clay onto the canvas and allowing the rain to wash over its surface.
