DESCRIPTION

Manual screen print on acid free 100% cotton paper with organic water-based ink | 2019

Marking her first release of limited edition screen prints, Alimbau chose four forms from her silhouette painting series that capture movement when paired together. Choosing palette with intention, the Klein blue represents her body of paintings, as its found throughout her other series, and the soft peach nude represents the body literally. Her work is a commentary on the difference between the male and female gaze, showcasing her own perspective by embracing what is sensual and delicate in the female form.

TAPPAN GIVES TO FACING HISTORY

This 4th of July we’re reflecting on how to bring America together through acknowledgement and education. Artists have always had a way of expressing the past that helps us understand much more than what most history books reflect. Outside of representation, we want to work toward a more inclusive future by donating 10% of proceeds to Facing History, a non-profit that helps educators create curriculum that circles around helping students gain the skills to be empathetic members of society who are civically engaged. Until July 8th consider supporting our emerging artists and educators working to get students involved in their communities. Giveback runs June 30 - July 8.
