DESCRIPTION
Mixed media on wood panel | 2020
Utilizing cut paper in variations of simple geometric shapes — squares, rectangles, circles, and triangles — Meyer creates delicately balanced, tonal compositions in these mixed media collages. This work, created throughout the year of COVID-19 lockdown, reflects the repetition she faced in her daily life when confronted with the monotony of restricted activity due to the pandemic. Through repetition and her limited use of shape and color, new and unexpected patterns and relationships emerge, reflecting her desire to challenge herself to continue to create something new and beautiful out of the same simple forms.
