I Never Will Abandon
30x40”, acrylic on paper
"With the majority of my syringe work I am conveying an explicit narrative. My goal is usually to shine a unique light on an event, or portray a certain aspect of a character's personality.
Each piece is a monoprint from some type of detailed template I create. The template is an inverted, detailed representation of the ultimate image. I then very quickly trace my template drawing with a paint filled syringe, and then press it to the blank sheet of paper," explains Gittes. "I forfeit a certain amount of influence over how the now deconstructed image turns out and often must try multiple times for each work."
