DESCRIPTION
Acrylic and matte medium on primed natural canvas in artist’s frame | 2019
In “Going Backwards” you can see the juxtaposition of Culver’s print work, which relies heavily on digital mediums, to her original paintings, where she sets aside a sacred space for organic shapes and textures. "I strive for perfection in every area of my life and now I’ve found a way to untie myself to that strict need. Painting on wood has always been the most perfect and smooth way to make my work, in conjunction with measuring and taping shapes off. I’ve let go of this obsession of absolute control... This body of work is an entryway to a new self."
