DESCRIPTION

Oil on canvas | 2016

This series of paintings are the result of a technique Garber has invented that mimics the weaving of cloth through layered brushwork. Taking months or years to complete in many stages, the components mirror a living being, the preliminary composition a skeletal structure, the worked texture a muscular system and final coating a skin-like layer. Layers of oil paint create create subtle color shifts, the resulting work historically dense yet radiant and cerebral.
