DESCRIPTION
Archival ink on museum-quality cotton rag paper | 2019
Bella McGoldrick’s photorealistic still lifes capture artifacts of the everyday. She meticulously draws pre-adored, used, and discarded objects, instilling them with a sense of curiosity and sentimentality. In “The Sometimes Kitchen Essentials” series, McGoldrick illustrates a collection of pantry items with captivating packaging: baking soda from Russia, olive oil from London, and sardines from Portugal.
Musing on “All Too Salty Fish,” she writes: “Although I’m not a fan of sardines, they take me back to nice delis around the world. Rolands takes me to Portugal, drawing me in by the beauty of its design and color pairing. I won’t eat their fish, but I’ll buy their packaging wherever I find it.”
