In the series “Big Nights In, Quiet Days Out,” Jen Peterson visually explores the relationship between internal and external environments. Pulling textures, shapes, patterns, and colors from her surrounding cities of San Francisco and Mexico City, Peterson creates compositions that mirror elements of architecture from the external environment. Within each outer structure, she paints many layers of watercolor that represent internal, emotional environments and the walls that we create within.
