New additions to Teschner’s vibrant series on the confrontation between natural phenomenon and architecture. Influenced by the way temperature and weather impact built objects, their boundaries, and surrounding space, the sculptures are constructed of individually painted planes stitched together in anomalous arrangements. Their scale fluctuates from board to building, drawing on both the language of wood joinery and the extensive palette of a lush tropical landscape.
She says of this work— “The green-golds of island flora. They confirm and announce the passing of day. The sun cuts through them and catches my eye as in a snare-trap. And by the next hour, their highlights have dimmed to shadows. My own position, advancing and retreating as they do.”
