Light matters to Tycjan Knut. In a continuation of his “Constructive Tendencies / Formal Solutions” series, Knut places even more emphasis on building light direction into each painting, mindful of not only the resulting composition but also the creation process of each work. All the works in the series were painted west and south facing the northern light, using marble dust limited to Italian earth tones. The resulting layering of light, technique, medium, and paint creates the illusion of fabric or a synthesis of air or water in works both elemental and exquisite.
