Maurice Brassard unmercerized cotton on canvas | 2022

This work is a result of the desire to create larger and to create movement across boundaries seamlessly. A kind of play on the eye, the barriers seemingly created by frames shows that all objects can be unified despite apparent borders.

Overall diptych size:
43 x 41.5 x 2.75 inches

Individual framed dimensions:
11.75 x 41.5 x 2.75 inches
31.25 x 41.5 x 2.75 inches

The work comes with a Certification of Authenticity signed by the Co-Founder of Tappan

“I feel that I am a part of a tradition that generations before me have done, working with thread, working with their hands. It is my goal to carry on this tradition, but in a new way.”

Alyssa Breid

A classically-trained flutist, Alyssa Breid found her artistic medium in minimalist weaving on canvas—a practice that is influenced by the Japanese and Scandinavian concepts of wabi-sabi and hygge. Breid’s work has been featured in the Netherland’s design magazine VTWonen and is featured in numerous international interior designs.
