The highly lyrical and dramatic works by the heidies really move me. Their work feels suggestive and imaginative; teasing the viewer to unleash their imagination. This photo invites the observer to dive deep, to let go, yet it is juxtaposed with an undercurrent of poise and control; the pointed toes, the perfectly placed dress, and fabrics folded just so. This image feels very personal to me.

As an aficionado of fabrics, the materiality and minimalism of Ethan Caflisch series “i’m not where i’m going to be” really interests me. This piece in particular, draws the eye towards a powerful window of deep, vibrant red and brings with it an intense focus upon the irregularities and inherent beauty within.

There is something so youthful, vibrant, and unblemished about the subject in this photo, but with Danny Lane’s addition of the graphic tape, a disturbing quality emerges. I would group this image with black and white photos and minimalist mixed-media pieces that support, without distracting from, the power of this work.
