DESCRIPTION

Sand and paper on raw canvas, birch and brass brad frame | 2020

Once again looking to his materials as a defining element of his work, Caflisch created “Cognitive Threshold Theory” with sand, paper, raw canvas, brass, and wood to relay the idea of place. This collection was inspired by nights spent away from home, during which the artist considered relationships to a given environment. The title is borrowed from an actual theory that’s based on the limitations and possibilities of human consciousness.
