Q.

Tell us a bit about your design ethos...

A.

With an emphasis on playful, modern, and eclectic glamour, my work is ever-evolving and frequently inspired by my travels and love for shifting styles throughout the decades. I love the blending of old and new design aesthetics in order to continuously produce one-of-a-kind timeless spaces for her clients.

Q.

How does art help define the space in your work?

A.

I really believe people should be surrounded by items they love in their home and things they feel say something meaningful about them. We often wait until the end of the project to buy art - I do not feel art needs to or even should “match” the interiors.

Q.

What is your current favorite piece in your personal collection?

A.

I have a piece by Kristen Giorgi that I adore - I love all of her work. I also have a fantastic piece from Tappan in my dining room that I LOVE by Michael DeSutter - It totally marries my love for art, design, and fashion.

Q.

What are some of the challenges you see collectors and clients face with art collecting, and what are some suggestions you have for how they tackle them?

A.

I think the biggest obstacle is knowing where to source, especially when building a larger collection when you want variety. Many local galleries are fantastic however only support specific groupings or artists--for example I am based in Vancouver and a lot of our local galleries are focused on Canadian Artists. I am a HUGE advocate of supporting local artists and makers and it is actually a big part of my design practice, however, there are so many amazing artists across the world that are difficult to discover or access. This is truly one of the reasons I love sourcing from Tappan - It gives us (and our clients) instant access to a huge range of emerging artists with different mediums, styles, and price points.
