Our planet is at once familiar and totally confounding. I like being reminded of that coexisting duality, and this print of a wind-whipped landscape in Point Reyes, California by Marc Gabor, really suspends and directs that awareness. The light is pretty special, too.

The layered, tactile nature of this piece by Gabrielle Teschner feels a bit abstract but still rooted in place -- a balance I find myself drawn to. The sunset hues in the background do something good to my blood pressure, and I like that the vessels up front seem to contain within them the blue sky on a sunny day.

Very much into art that taps into an ability to make us reconsider ordinary things and moments. Without trickery or guise, I suspect this print of a few palm leaves humbly assembled in a jar might transform my kitchen counter/sink zone with a knowing wink. Also, it’s reminding me of the still life work of one of my forever favorites, Wolfgang Tillmans.
