DESCRIPTION
silk, sun, sand, wind, wood, water, aluminum | 2019
A true collaboration with nature, Perkins’ so-called “post-totem structures” begin as time-sensitive installations using Fire Island’s surrounding elements such as sun, sand, and water. After being left to weather for up to a year, the painting/sculpture hybrids embody the passing of time, striking a balance between the control of man and the unpredictability of the wild.
